in Roemer shooting lets case proceed By Joe Pinchot Herald Staff Writer
A Youngstown man charged with shooting a Farrell man has allowed charges to proceed to court. Alfred A. Griffin, 19, was charged with aggravated and simple assault, reckless endangerment and carrying a firearm without a license in the shooting of Fred Odem, 42. District Justice Henry J. Russo held all charges for court. Defense attorney Norman J. Barilla of New Castle signed a stipulation Friday that if testimony was presented, the prosecution could show a crime occurred and Griffin might have been involved. As part of the stipulation agreement, Mercer County Assistant District Attorney Robert Kochems asked that Griffin's bond be reduced from $50,000 to $25,000, which Russo did. Griffin was returned to Lawrence County Jail. Griffin was a passenger in a sport-utility vehicle Sept. 18 when it was stopped in the 200 block of Roemer Boulevard, Farrell, by Odem, who walked into the street, police said. |
