Man awaits sentencing in rape of girls

Mark Hearn, 19, of 1121 Broadway Ave., Masury, pleaded guilty Tuesday to amended charges of rape and is awaiting a pre-sentence background investigation prior to being sentenced, a court spokeswoman said.

The four rape counts are felonies.

Hearn was arrested in January after allegedly raping two young female relatives, ages 4 and 6, in September 2002. He has been held in Trumbull County Jail ever since.

Hearn's sister and mother of the girls, Mary Beth Hearn, 24, was charged in February with one misdemeanor endangering count, pleaded guilty in April and was put on probation for two years.

His mother, Karen Johnson, of the same address, was charged with disorderly conduct and pleaded guilty to the reduced charges. She was fined $100.
