Township isn't ignoring borough, supervisor says

The way Greenville Municipal Authority tells it, several attempts to contact Hempfield Township supervisors about a proposed water project on Fredonia Road have gone unanswered.

But Hempfield Supervisor Gary Hittle said not only did the township receive the letters asking for a meeting, they invited the water board and its representatives to come to a meeting to discuss the matter.

"I just wanted to get our name cleaned up," he said. "We took a pretty good beating."

At last Thursday's board meeting, water authority Chairman Dick Miller said the authority had received no response to its request for a meeting.

Hittle said, "We responded to their first letter. When no one from the authority showed up at the meeting, we asked our solicitor what to do."
