shuttle ridership up By Joe Pinchot
Shenango Valley Shuttle Service has adjusted its northern route to give greater coverage in Hermitage. The red bus now goes as far north as D'Onofrio Food Center, 1749 N. Hermitage Road, and passes the North Hermitage Road site that is proposed for a Wal-Mart Supercenter. James DeCapua, executive director of Mercer County Regional Council of Governments which runs the bus service, said he had wanted to make the change after Wal-Mart opens but received requests to take the buses past doctors' offices in the area. The bus service's three routes connect Sharon City Centre and the Shenango Valley Mall. The northern route's red bus concentrates on Hermitage and Sharpsville. The green bus of the central route picks up Sharon's West Hill and Hermitage's Patagonia. The blue bus of the southern route winds through Farrell and Wheatland. Transfers are available between routes. |
