Attorney Burrell A. Brown, a California University of Pennsylvania professor, will speak.

The Clairton native graduated from California University with a bachelor's degree in education, specializing in physics; and from the University of Pittsburgh with juris doctor and a master of business administration degrees.

He joined the university's faculty in 1989 and is a tenured full business professor. Brown also is business and economic department chair and was appointed in 2000 as Frederick Douglass Institute director. He was elected in 2001 as president of the university's faculty union.

Admitted to practice law before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, Brown has operated his own practice in Clairton specializing in business and employment law. He also is one of the city's solicitors.
