session

A kickoff community session for The Homes at Centennial Place is set for 6 p.m. Oct. 28 in the Farrell fire station. The development, opening in the coming months, will give homeownership especially to those with moderate incomes.

The homes were built on the former Steel City Terrace site in Farrell. Costs will start at $39,990.

With $1,000 cash down and a minimum monthly payment of $300, buyers can own a three-bedroom home. They also may qualify for a below-market mortgage rate and free credit counseling.

Those interested must be first-time homebuyers meeting certain income restrictions.

The homes are a result of an effort between the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Hope VI program, Mercer County Housing Authority, Ralph A. Falbo Inc., the city of Farrell, Pennrose Properties Inc. and Marenberg Enterprises Inc.

Information: 724-854-4663 or visit the on-site sales office from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays at 205 Spearman Ave., Farrell.
