denies citizens' appeal can proceed Herald Staff Writer It appears the $7.8 million Jamestown Area School District renovation will be able to move forward without opposition or fear of losing state reimbursements. Superintendent David Shaffer told the school board during a special meeting Wednesday that the Pennsylvania Department of Education has denied the appeal of the Jamestown Area Concerned Taxpayers, a group that has publicly stated its opposition to parts of the renovation project Shaffer and three others traveled to Harrisburg last week to present documents to department officials, who reviewed those documents and the contracts, and said all the contracts were done legally and, Shaffer added, as far as the Department of Education was concerned, the appeal process was over. "They ruled in favor of the district," Shaffer said. "That means the project moves forward and that means we can expect state reimbursement on that project." The percentage of reimbursement, Shaffer added, has yet to be determined, but should fall somewhere between 28 percent and 31 percent. |
