A travel audit of the Mercer County Behavioral Health Commission Inc. won't be revealed until after the November election, something a Transfer resident isn't happy about. James Campbell asked Mercer County commissioners Thursday when the audit for the 2002-03 travel records of Behavioral Health would be released to the public. County Controller Tom Amundsen said before the audit can be released to the public, officials at Behavioral Health must give their opinion in writing so it can be included in the audit. After the opinion is included, Amundsen said, he has to reconcile the audit. Amundsen said he was told Behavioral Health officials could not give their opinion before Oct. 30. Amundsen said Wednesday he had an exit interview Tuesday regarding the audit with Dana Frankenburg, Behavioral Health's chief executive officer, and Frankenburg asked for time to respond before making the audit public. Amundsen said he expects to release the report Nov. 7, three days after the election. Campbell said he thinks what he considers the late release of the audit is a political move, because a bad audit could reflect poorly on Commissioner Olivia Lazor who is seeking re-election and sits on the board of directors at Behavioral Health. |
