Health-conscious will be getting fit in vineyard

The countryside along U.S. Route 62 toward Interstate 79 in Coolspring Township includes rolling hills, pastures with cows, old farmhouses and a vineyard.

Now the scenery will include a fitness center.

Tom and LeeAnn Shelburne of Jackson Township plan to open Cool Springs Fitness the first week of January. The center will offer racquetball, a climbing wall and group exercise classes for members.

"We just wanted to bring something to Mercer with a health conscious atmosphere," said Mrs. Shelburne. She and her husband are former New Kensington, Pa., residents and her husband still operates a trucking business out of Pittsburgh.

"We've been making plans for this since last October. We're doing this for our future as well as Mercer's," she said. "We would like to see Mercer take advantage of this healthy environment. We're going to have a lot of fun."
