Derek Vasconi points to a scar on the left side of his nose. He credited bassist Joe Sudrovic with afflicting this random act of rock showmanship upon him. "Seven stitches," said Vasconi, guitarist for the grindcore rock band From a Second Story Window. Then, he drew attention to a red mark at his hair line, not far from his eyebrow ring. "I got this over the weekend," the Sharon man said of another close encounter with a non-bending musical instrument. Vasconi smiled. He wears his injuries as badges of honor, occupational hazards that he welcomes in the pursuit of his rock 'n' roll dream. He lives his dream in the absolute abandon of performance. The musicians fly about the stage, bouncing off each other, the equipment, the walls and the fans in what likely is similar to the goings on in a uranium atom and the moment of an atomic explosion. |
