Razing would clear the way for Walgreens

Construction is expected to begin in January on a pharmacy on Stambaugh Avenue in Sharon.

According to city zoning officer Frank Smeraglia, five buildings will be demolished on Stambaugh between the Shenango Valley Freeway and East State Street to make way for a Walgreens. The deal is expected to close between now and early December, he said.

The company that applied for the zoning variance to build the store is Graystone Group out of the Cleveland area, he said.

The buildings to be torn down are a structure that houses Pregnancy Services of Western Pennsylvania, May's Shoe Repair, Sampson Glass Co. and two houses, Smeraglia said.

Approval from the zoning board and PennDOT concerning an exit onto Stambaugh is pending, he said.
