Man sentenced to jail time for 2001 robbery

Alvin G. White Jr. will spend at least the next 3è years behind bars for the Oct. 25, 2001, robbery of a West Middlesex convenience store.

White, formerly of Pymatuning Township, was sentenced Tuesday by Mercer County Common Pleas Court Judge Francis J. Fornelli to serve 3è to 7 years behind bars for a single count of robbery.

White pleaded guilty to the felony charge July 8. Charges of theft, receiving stolen property, simple assault, making terroristic threats and reckless endangerment were withdrawn as part of his plea.

White walked into the Dairy Mart, 3108 Main St., at about 4:15 a.m. and demanded money, clerk Jessica Keller testifed at a preliminary hearing Nov. 9, 2001.

Ms. Keller said she thought White was joking until he stuck his hand in the cash drawer to keep it open when she tried to close it.

He showed an object under his jacket that she took to be a gun when he threatened to blow her brains out, although he never showed one, she testified.
