Brookfield elementary schools' Leadership Team proudly showed others what has made Addison Elementary a "School of Promise." Four members of the team made a presentation last week at the first state superintendent's Schools of Promise conference. Traveling to Columbus were Tim Filipovich, Addison principal; Deborah Gratz, Stevenson Elementary School principal; Sally Schneider, elementary technology coordinator; and Janet Mitcheltree, second-grade teacher. "Our main theme was creating a culture where everyone's input is valued," Filipovich said. "We believe in involving stakeholders, making decisions based on data and always looking for ways to improve." He said that process includes getting input from parents before making important decisions. Dr. Susan Tave Zelman, state superintendent of public instruction, honored 64 low-income, high-performing schools with a banner celebrating their special achievements. |
