Rita Ferringer has pressed PennDOT to put a full traffic signal at Dutch Lane and Highland Road, and PennDOT is preparing to grant her wish. But, that's not all PennDOT has in store. It wants to widen 1.12 miles of Highland from North Buhl Farm Drive to North Hermitage Road, and create a center turn lane for most of that length. Ms. Ferringer, who has her real estate office in the northwest corner of Dutch and Highland, would rather the road not be widened. Many motorists are using Highland to avoid East State Street, and more than a few are not obeying the 40 mph speed limit, she said. "Once Wal-Mart is there, we're going to have a lot more traffic," she said. |
