Hall of Fame needs some
dough re mi

Dedication and passion for music brought the Vocal Group Hall of Fame to downtown Sharon, but serious financial problems are threatening the venture.

The hall has been struggling for two years and recently hasn't been able to raise enough money to pay even the basic overhead costs, said Bob Crosby, president and chief executive officer.

It costs $84,000 a year just to pay for the utilities and the taxes on the building, and that doesn't include salaries, Crosby said.

There are $7,200 in electric bills alone backed up for the last couple months, he added.

"It's very difficult on Tracy (Rogers, the museum director) and I who are here 12 hours a day to continuously get pounded with bills," Crosby said. "We don't grow the money here. We're really concerned as to where we go from here."

Though his official job is to raise national awareness about the hall and promote shows and products, Crosby said he is also doing things like vacuuming the building and cleaning the toilets.
