She has no reserves about serving in Iraq

By Kristen Garrett
Herald Staff Writer

"She wanted to do it all."

That's what Sharon mother Marrianne Maurice said of her daughter, Specialist Monica Thompson, who is stationed in Balad, Iraq as a military police officer. And it seems she is doing it all.

Miss Thompson, 26, is a reservist with the Tobyhanna Army Depot in Tobyhanna, Pa. When not working in the military, she is a part-time policewoman with the Southwest Mercer County Regional Police Department.

Miss Thompson was activated from November 2001 until October 2002; she was activated again in February 2003.

During the beginning of Homeland Security, Miss Thompson was selected to be on the cover of a magazine advertising the Tobyhanna Army Depot. Only one person from each branch of the military was selected for the cover.
