You'll have to excuse Mary Jo Harakal if the historical aspect of her appointment as mayor of Clark is placed on the back burner for a couple of months.

Mrs. Harakal and council have a budget to pass first and then she might allow herself time to reflect on the appointment that came Nov. 4 naming her to replace recently retired Douglas C. Bradley.

"I guess I really haven't thought about it because of how fast everything has happened," she said about becoming the borough's first female mayor and one of the few in Mercer County history.

Bradley submitted his resignation, effective Oct. 31, to council and then-Council President Mrs. Harakal in early October.
