French pianist to do Daverio benefit concert

A classical performance will be held Sunday to benefit a Sharon native who died in Boston last spring.

Distinguished French pianist and musicologist Paul-Andre Bempechat will perform three benefit concerts of Brahms, Schuman and Schubert for the John Joseph Daverio Memorial Endowment for the Arts at Sharon High School. One of the performances will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Sharon Middle/High School.

Admission is free, and all tax-deductible donations will be forwarded to the endowment.

The performances will commemorate the life and work of Dr. Daverio, who was a Boston University professor and violinist. Daverio was last seen leaving his office the evening of March 16, and his body was discovered a month later in the Charles River.

Bempechat is Artist-Scholar-in-Residence for the Institut Culturel de Bretlagne and holds a concurrent research appointment at Harvard University's Department of Celtic Languages and Literatures and is an Affiliate of Harvard's Center for European Studies.

The other two performances to benefit the endowment will be held in Houston and Boston.
