Although only a college sophomore, Anthony Genovese has seven college productions under his belt, and the roles have gone from walk-ons to major parts.

"Ever since 'Moon Over the Brewery,' things have just happened for me and progressed to bigger and harder parts," said the Shenango Township man, a theater major at Youngstown State University.

"Moon Over the Brewery" was staged in April. He's currently rehearsing for "Noises Off," which is one of three plays he's involved in.

Rehearsals also have started for the drama "Good Thing," a December production, and he's directing "Mere Mortals" for a directing class. All his current efforts are YSU productions.

Such a busy schedule has Genovese not leaving campus until 11 o'clock weeknights.

"It is so draining," he said, but was quick to add that he's not complaining.

"If we got paid for this, I'd be a rich man," he said. "But this is worth so much more to me."

That work ethic has impressed "Noises Off" director Dr. Dennis Henneman, professor of theater.
