effort to raise cash By Cary Snyder Herald Staff Writer A group of Stoneboro youths gathered at Station Square Pizza on Thursday afternoon, but not to enjoy a large pie and a few Cokes. The current and former Lakeview High School students met to discuss fund-raising options for a new skatepark in the borough. Stoneboro, led by councilman and Lakeview principal Roger Patterson, plans to fund the park with a $40,000 small community grant from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and a $20,000 match from in-kind services. Parents and relatives of the youths have committed to assembling the park's equipment and maintaining the facility, which will be located on the former Lions Club tennis courts. Even with the donations of time and effort, the youths still need to raise over $10,000 to make the park a reality. |
