Home called total loss
after flames break out

No one was hurt when fire broke out Friday morning at a Sandy Lake Township home, but the structure was a total loss, said Dan Wadlow, Sandy Lake Volunteer Fire-Rescue chief.

The home at 3533 Sandy Lake-New Lebanon Road belonged to Bob and Heather Williamson. It was behind Bob's Auto Body, a business on the Williamsons' property.

The fire began underneath the house, the chief said.

"It looks accidental to me, but we have the fire marshal coming to make a determination," Wadlow said.

The chief said he was told that a friend of Bob Williamson had stopped by and they both smelled smoke. "They looked underneath, moved some of the insulation, noticed some of it was burning, and then called us," Wadlow said.
