By Jeff Greenburg Herald Political Writer What began as a favor to a friend for Danny Boggs turned into a 35-year love affair of public service for his adopted hometown. That favor was accepting an appointment for a seat on Jackson Center council in 1968. Three-and-a-half decades later, Boggs' tenure will come to a close at the end of the year. "There was a council member who had passed away and another council person came to me and asked me if I would fill the term on council," he said. "I did." And the rest, as Boggs might say, is history. Boggs, 69, said there were a couple times during that time he didn't run, when he thought it was time to let somebody else run the show. But on those occasions he was always asked to fill a vacant seat. |
