Although details on how the project got started are a little hazy, it's clear plans are moving forward to move the Pennsylvania Army National Guard armory within Hermitage.

Developer Dan Leali of Leali Brothers Excavating Inc. in Hermitage has asked the city to rezone about 6 acres near East State Street and South Darby Road for the project.

The land is single-family residential and Leali is asking that it be changed to high density residential development, which allows government buildings.

The commissioners plan to introduce an ordinance for the zoning change on Tuesday.

The new armory would be a neighbor to the Hickory Veterans of Foreign Wars post.
