Hermitage commissioners will let a request to change the name of Broadway Avenue in honor of Martin Luther King go unanswered. Commissioner Larry Gurrera said he's not against the change, but is worried about the cost to businesses to change their stationery and inform their contacts of the new address. Gurrera said he was on Farrell council when it changed the name of Broadway to Victor Posner Boulevard. The city has since gone back to Broadway. "It would cost people a lot of money," Gurrera said. "We would probably be imposing $3,000 to $4,000 each on that." Commissioner Joseph Augustine said the point is moot because Wheatland has already decided not to change the name of its stretch of the road. |
