A Farrell man serving a federal prison sentence for bank fraud pleaded guilty last Friday to false swearing in a car title scheme. Charles R. Harris pleaded guilty before District Justice Henry J. Russo, Farrell. Russo ordered Harris to pay court costs, extradition costs and $3,500 restitution at a rate of $373 a month. Harris also will serve 1 year of state probation at the end of his federal prison term and supervised release, the federal equivalent of probation. Harris, 33, and Franklin W. Harris, 24, of Youngstown, who is listed in court documents as Charles Harris' nephew or cousin, were each charged with 14 counts of tampering with public records, seven counts of false application for title, altered or forged documents and unsworn falsification, four counts of false swearing and one count of theft, defrauding secured creditors and conspiracy. Franklin Harris pleaded guilty Oct. 17 to one count of false swearing and was ordered to pay costs. |
