When you visit the Gingersnap Junction Inc. craft and collectible store, you will literally go over the river and through the woods to get there. But according to the owners, it's well worth the drive. The business is on state Route 173 in New Lebanon in the northeastern corner of Mercer County. It grew out of a partnership between two couples who bought an 1844 home at auction in 1995. "None of us knew what we were doing. We had all worked for someone else," said Judy Baldwin, 56, of Atlantic. She and her husband John, 57, and a Mill Creek Township couple, Art and Debbie Grinnell, ages 54 and 52, respectively, had been friends for a long time. The Baldwins had a small antique business on the side, and Mrs. Grinnell made crafts for an annual show. They thought it would be a good idea to go into business together. "We didn't have that big of intentions. It's just grown into that," Mrs. Baldwin said. |
