voluntary payment of $12,720 By Jeff Greenburg and Patrecka F. Adams Herald Staff Writers The city of Farrell, Farrell Area School District and Mercer County will share about $12,720 thanks to a voluntary payment from Mercer County Housing Authority. The authority board last Wednesday and county commissioners on Thursday entered into a payment in lieu of tax agreement with Steel City Housing Partnership, L.P., Phase I, pending final review by county solicitor Lew McEwen. Frank Gargiulo of the housing authori ty said the program is a voluntary payment that will be split among three taxing bodies: local, school and county. The agreement for Phase I sets up a minimum payment of $240 a unit a year for each of the 53 units in the Centennial Place HOPE IV development in Farrell; however, the $240 could increase as rents go up or higher income-level families move in, Gargiulo told commissioners. |
