Hermitage commissioners have introduced an ordinance to rezone land being eyed for a new Pennsylvania Army National Guard armory. The rezoning request goes to the Hermitage Planning Commission. The land is single-family residential and Dan Leali of Leali Brothers Excavating Inc., Hermitage, is asking that it be changed to high-density residential development, which allows government buildings. Ron Espenshade, deputy director of the state Armory Board, said officials are looking to move the armory from 740 N. Hermitage Road to the new site as soon as possible. The land in question, near East State Street and South Darby Road, has not been bought, but HHSDR Architects/Engineers, Sharon, has been hired to design the new building, Espenshade said. |
