An alleged drunken driver crashed his pickup into a utility pole Wednesday night, knocking out power to parts of Greenville Wednesday night. Greenville-West Salem Township police said a pickup driven by Robert Fry, 45, of 430 N. Summit Road, West Salem Township, sheared the pole at 18 N. High St. in the borough at about 11:20 p.m.; the transformer atop the pole exploded and caught fire. Parts of the borough were without power until 2 a.m., police said. Representatives of Pennsylvania Power Co. could not be reached Thursday. Fry's blood-alcohol content was three times the legal limit and he was charged with drunken driving, police said. Greenville firefighters assisted. ----------sty------> |
