An Oct. 3 house fire has claimed its third victim. John "Babe" Pollock, 74, of 18 Old Bedford Road, West Middlesex, died at 8 p.m. Thursday in Akron General Medical Center. Pollock had been hospitalized since the fire in the home he shared with his wife, Shirley Irene Pollock, 75, and their son, Mark, 46. Mark, who was a Shenango Township firefighter and a former West Middlesex firefighter, was pronounced dead of smoke inhalation the morning of the fire at UPMC Horizon, Farrell. Mrs. Pollock was taken to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh and transferred to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, where she died Nov. 23. The fire broke out in the Pollock home at 1:40 a.m. in a basement chair, possibly from a cigarette, investigators said. |
