A trooper for the state police at Mercer was treated at UPMC Horizon, Greenville, after his cruiser was hit at about 9 a.m. Friday on Interstate 80, police said. Police said trooper Richard Houk, 35, of Mercer was directing traffic around an accident in East Lackawannock Township when his cruiser was hit by a car driven by Veronica Ann Bailey, 41, of Madison, N.Y. Police said Ms. Bailey tried to pass on the berm and her eastbound car hit the police cruiser, causing it to spin into the median. Ms. Bailey's car also spun into the median, police said. |
