Cattron Communications division sold

Cattron Group said Tuesday the company has sold its Cattron Communications division to Staley Communication Inc. of Wheeling, W.Va.

No sales price was given by the Sharpsville company.

The 14 local employees of Cattron Communications now work for Staley Communication and there are no immediate plans to change employment levels.

Cattron Communications was founded in 1946 by Jim Cattron of Sharpsville and was originally called Cattron Radio Communications Service. The company was the first Motorola service station and continues to sell and service Motorola two-way radio equipment.

In addition, Cattron Communications sells, installs and maintains such communication systems as pagers, cellular phones, dispatching units and closed-circuit television systems. Also, the company is known for providing wireless communications service with communication towers and buildings that it owns, leases and manages.

"We are extremely excited with this transaction because it is truly a win-win opportunity for our employees, customers and community,'' said Jim Robertson, president of Cattron Group. "This will allow the Cattron-Theimeg subsidiaries of Cattron Group to focus their efforts on industrial remote controls, our core business, and, at the same time, enable Staley and Cattron Communications employees to focus on the growth opportunities in the communities and industries they serve.''
