Reserve unit's mobilization orders
are canceled

Members of the 475th Quartermaster group of the U.S. Army reserves based at Pendel-Caminiti Army Reserve Center, Farrell, will have to wait a bit longer to serve their country.

That's because their mobilization order was canceled last week.

According to Jack Gordon, public affairs chief of information, before the cancellation, about 100 soldiers from the unit were preparing to head to Fort Dix, N.J., on Saturday.

"Sometimes a unit gets an order to alert, and when it does, the soldiers are immediately put on advanced annual training status," he said, adding that the soldiers spent the last few weeks intensively training.

Eleven soldiers of the 635th Quartermaster Detachment, who deal closely with water and fuel, were also given mobilization orders and are still scheduled to go to Fort McCoy, Wis. on Saturday.

Gordon said the soldiers in the detachment may be part of the rotational forces for operations Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan or Iraqi Freedom in Iraq.
