MANILA, Philippines (AP) -- A former Shenango Valley resident who was working as a consultant for a real estate company was fatally shot by a security guard while inspecting a project near the Philippine capital, Manila, police said Sunday.

Christopher Paul Seliga, 38, a manager of a golf course project for Philippine company Ayala Greenfield, was conducting a routine inspection of the project site Saturday afternoon when he apparently had an argument with one of his security guards, said Police Senior Supt. Alberto Garcia.

The guard then shot Seliga, Garcia said, adding that police were searching for the guard.

Seliga, formerly of 474 Logan Ave., Sharon, died on the spot at the project site in Laguna province's Calamba town, 37 miles south of Manila, said Garcia.

Shells from M16 rifles were found at the scene, according to the Khaleej Times newspaper.

"We are evaluating this as a work-related case," Garcia said, ruling out Philippine media speculation that communist rebels had committed the killing.
