By Patrecka F. Adams Herald Staff Writer Mercer County Housing Authority still hopes plans can get under way for a senior housing complex in Hermitage by next fall. Wednesday, the board agreed to spend $187,000 to build 60 units on Lamor Road. L. Dewitt Boosel, authority executive director, said the land for the more than 20-acre complex has been secured, and officials are assembling a financing package. The authority received approval earlier this year from Hermitage commissioners to build 36 one-bedroom and 24 two-bedroom units for people 55 years old and older. The authority and Hermitage are partners in the funding of the project, estimated at $6.5 million. Boosel said a combination of tax credits and bond financing will finance most of the project, and the authority will file in April for low-income housing credits that a developer can use to secure financing. He said a decision on the credits is expected in July. |
