Leaders of Mercer County development groups are being invited in what's being called an "economic development summit.'' The closed, invitation-only meeting is being held Friday at the Hickory VFW in Hermitage and is sponsored by the Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce. About 45 executive directors and board members representing 15 or so development groups, chambers of commerce, Penn-Northwest Development Corp. and industrial development corporations have been invited to the event. Randy Coleman, outgoing president of the Shenango Valley Chamber and incoming chairman of Penn-Northwest said there is no hidden agenda to the meeting. "The primary goal is to get economic agencies across Mercer County together to talk about what their independent goals and independent directions are and see if synergies can be developed,'' Coleman said. "There's really nothing beyond that.'' He added this was not an effort to merge or consolidate development groups or agencies. |
