enhance cause By Kristen Garrett Herald Staff Writer
In the words of the Steve Miller Band, local high school students will "Dance, Dance, Dance" for 12 hours without stopping to raise money for a good cause. Penn State University's Shenango campus is holding a Mini-THON starting Dec. 19 to raise money for The Four Diamonds Fund. More than 250 students from Sharon City, Sharpsville, Hickory, Reynolds, Mercer, West Middlesex and Farrell high schools will dance from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. at the F.H. Buhl Club in Sharon. Students at Penn State Shenango have held other fund-raisers in the past to benefit The Four Diamonds Fund, which provides money to children with cancer and their families. However, this is the first year they are actually holding a dance marathon, said Jake Kane, THON director at Penn State Shenango. The dancers aren't allowed to sleep, sit or even lean on the walls for the entire duration of the event, Kane said. |
