For four years Matthew Dixon has been receiving financial help with his college education.

Unlike many students who earn scholarships and grants or are given money from family, Dixon has been receiving help each month from someone he doesn't know.

Dixon, 26, of Sharon, is graduating Friday from Penn State University's Shenango Campus in Sharon, with a bachelor's degree in business administration marketing and management. He wants his unknown supporter to know he is grateful, and he would like that person to attend his graduation ceremony.

"They (the benefactor) have been a huge part of my college education," he said.

Dixon said he will graduate with a focus on marketing and management.

Dixon began receiving money monthly in 1999.

"The person, to me, is fantastic," Dixon said. "They have taught me many things. They taught me there are great people out there, and we just don't know it."

Dixon said the person who has helped him hasn't done it for recognition but because he or she saw someone who was working hard to put himself through school.

Despite a list of possible donors, Dixon said he really doesn't know who has been helping him.

"Would I like to know? Of course because I would like to thank them," Dixon said. "It really inspires me. It tells me somebody believes in me."
