in 'drive-through' incident By Sherris Moreira-Byers Herald Staff Writer Charges against an Erie man who allegedly tried to create his own drive-through at a Grove City gas station have been held to court by District Justice Lawrence T. Silvis. Borough police charged Mark E. Davison, 23, with two counts of drunken driving, careless driving and speeding. Police said the car was westbound on North Street and continued through the T-intersection with Broad Street, hit a fire hydrant and went into the Kwik Fill gas station at 501 N. Broad St. at about 3 a.m. Nov. 5. According to the police affidavit, Davison claimed he swerved to miss a truck, but his route led straight from North Street into the gas station, narrowly missing a gasoline pump. Kwik Fill manager Barry Bulfone said the crash caused $10,000 to $15,000 worth of damage to the building. "That doesn't include the loss of gasoline sales, loss of employees' wages or loss of merchandise sales," he added. The gas station didn't reopen until Dec. 11. "Our customers are happy to have us back and we're thrilled to be open again," Bulfone said. Davison's blood-alcohol level tested at 0.191, according to the affidavit. He is free on $5,000 bond. ----------sty------> |
