Greenburg, Kizak chosen to fill vacant seats on school board

Hermitage School Board members looked to the medical profession to fill out its ranks.

Dr. Morren J. Greenburg and Timothy Kizak were chosen to replace Duane J. Piccirilli and Carol Rich, who recently resigned.

Greenburg, 71, of 195 Jonathan Place, is a general practitioner, and Kizak, 38, of 1899 Rettig Drive, is a supervisor in the laboratory at Sharon Regional Health System. They were the top picks of 11 people who applied for the seats.

All candidates were interviewed Wednesday. Greenburg and Kizak will be formally appointed and sworn in Monday.

"I'm excited," Greenburg said. "It's probably been a lifetime goal of mine. It's a great honor."

Greenburg said he would bring his organizational skills, perseverance, ability to work with groups and fiscal responsibility to the board.

Not surprisingly, Greenburg said health issues are important to him. He said he would want to institute a districtwide health program involving students and parents to address problems such as childhood obesity.
