Connelly: Building will be ready
Mercer School Superintendent Larry Connelly expects work on classrooms at the Junior-Senior High School to begin within the next week and to be finished next year.
Despite the renovations, the school will be ready to occupy by the scheduled start of the school year, he said.
“I have no indications at this time that we will be starting later than Sept. 14,” Connelly said, adding that the contractors provide weekly updates.
On Monday, Mercer school board was looking to the next phase of construction work in the district. The board awarded contracts to add two classrooms at Mercer Elementary. The low bidders were:
Alban Construction, Sharpsville, $189,933 for construction; lowest of five bids
W.G. Tomko and Sons Inc., Pittsburgh, $33,300 for heat, ventilation and air conditioning; lower of two bids.
Shipley Plumbing, Cranberry Township, Butler County, $17,945; lowest of four bids.
Chris Levitt Electric, Inc., Sharon, $12,900; lowest of five bids.
