`Westminster to thank firefighters with picnic`

Westminster College will hold a “thank you” picnic Monday for all the volunteer firefighters who responded to the West Hall fire.

In a letter to the volunteer fire departments of New Wilmington, Neshannock Township, Volant, Pulaski Township, Springfield Township and Mercer, Westminster College President R. Thomas Williamson said: “Words cannot fully express our gratitude for the rapid, professional and courageous manner in which you responded to the West Hall fire. ... Your efforts saved irreplaceable books, records, and personal effects “... we give thanks for your bravery and competence. We are especially thankful that no one was injured during the process of fighting the fire.”

The picnic will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on the college Quad in front of the Old 77 gymnasium.
