125,000 tires on Lawrence County farm catch fire
The Associated Press
A pile of 125,000 tires caught fire on a Lawrence County farm, drawing 20 fire companies from three counties to the remote area.
The fire broke out Wednesday evening, and firefighters were still extinguishing hot spots early today on the Washington Township farm.
Firefighters, including volunteers from Springfield Township and Mercer East End, controlled the blaze in two hours, but it flared up again when bulldozers began pushing tires around to find hot spots, authorities said.
No injuries were reported.
Authorities were trying to determine what started the fire.
