`Sharon man accused of rape`

A Sharon man was arrested Sunday on charges he raped an 18-year-old woman, Sharon police said. Frederick W. Sloan III, 19, of 357 E. Silver St., was arrested at 12:35 p.m. at home and charged with rape and sexual and simple assault.

According to police, Sloan forced his way into the vehicle of a New Castle woman he knew at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday, saying he wanted to talk. He took her to a parking lot at Fisher Hill and Tamplin Street where he raped her, police said.

The woman went to the home of a friend who then called police.
