Renovations at the Dow Jones and Co. printing plant in Shenango Township have necessitated that The Herald change its times for publication for one weekend only, beginning Friday.
The Herald is printed at the plant, but for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday editions this week, it will be printed at the Tribune-Chronicle in Warren, Ohio.
One of the changes will be that Spectrum Magazine, which is usually delivered as an insert with Friday's edition, will be delivered a day earlier than normal in Thursday's edition.
Deadlines for obituary information will be 7 a.m. Friday for Friday afternoon's edition and 7 p.m. Saturday for Sunday morning's edition. Obituary deadlines Friday night for Saturday's edition are unchanged.
On Friday, The Herald will be printed in Warren beginning at about 9 a.m. It should be available at dealers and vending boxes at around 1 p.m.
Saturday morning's edition will arrive later than usual -- probably about three hours -- because it won't be printed until after the Tribune-Chronicle finishes its press run.
Sunday's edition should be available at its normal time, although Saturday night's deadline for news will be moved to 8:30 compared to the usual midnight. Some Saturday night scores from local and national sports contests and other late-breaking news will have to be printed Monday.
"We appreciate the understanding of our readers and advertisers during this weekend when we've had to make some adjustments in our production cycle," said John L. Lima, president and publisher of The Herald. "We have done everything possible to minimize any effects on our customers."
