Surgeons reattach teen-ager's arm

The 13-year-old girl who lost her right arm in a farm accident had it reattached by doctors Sunday but faces two more operations today and Friday, her grandfather said.

Julie Dickson of 219 Vaughn Road, Deer Creek Township, was in fair condition today(Tue) at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.

"The poor little girl has a tough road ahead of her,'' grandfather Lyle Arbuckle said, noting her fingers are warm but it took a while for the blood to flow both ways.

Julie was loading silage Saturday and caught her arm as she reached for a lever that turns on the tractor's power takeoff shaft at 8:20 p.m., said her 10-year-old brother, Gary.

She was taken from the scene to Children's Hospital and underwent surgery to reattach her arm, a hospital spokesman said.

Her family said she may remain hospitalized for two weeks.
