The reports of the threats during the last several days come less than a week after the massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo.
Adding to parents' concerns was the fact that the seventh-grader has been attending Greenville High for only a week after being transferred from another school of a similar size, Ziegler said. "He was unknown to a lot of us. You have a fear of the unknown," he said.
Ziegler said school officials first received reports that the boy was making threats in the school hallway; during the weekend, the boy reportedly called one or more girls at their homes, making threats.
"To the best of my knowledge," the boy did not threaten to use a weapon, the principal said.
When the number of reported threats accumulated, school officials called in Greenville-West Salem Township police.
Police interviewed 15 students.
The boy denied making any threats, Ziegler said.
A check with the boy's former school revealed he was not a serious problem there, Ziegler said.
The seventh-grader was suspended at about noon Monday until further notice, Ziegler said.
School officials are telling parents that it is safe to send their children to school, the principal said.
