Dairy royalty to be crowned June 22



The Mercer County Dairy Princess Pageant will be June 22 in Leslie N. Firth Learning Center, U.S. Route 19, Coolspring Township. The “Cow-tail Hour” will begin at 7 p.m. followed by the banquet at 7:30.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $3.50 for children ages 6-10; and children 5 and younger are free. Make reservations by Monday with Kim Croskey at 475-3853, Sue Paxton at (814) 786-7445, or Rosemary Menke at 588-3586.

The pageant will begin at about 8:30 p.m. and is open to all.

There are three contestants vying for the Dairy Princess crown now held by Tammy Menke, Greenville:

ä Marsha Croskey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Croskey, Fredonia, will be a senior at Reynolds High School.
ä Katie Hanna, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Hanna, Stoneboro, will be a senior at Lakeview High School.
ä Dawn Seckler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Beighley, Mercer, will be a senior at Wilmington Area High School.

Girls between the ages of 5 and 16 who have a connection to the dairy industry may participate in the pageant. The Dairy Darlings, girls ages 5-9, will sing a song. The Dairy Delights, girls ages 10-13, will recite a poem as a group. The Dairy Maids, girls ages 13-16, will perform a rap as a group.

Past Dairy Maids may write and perform a mini-skit if they choose to. Registrations to participate in the pageant are due by Monday to Elaine Leise at 475-4788.
