`Small Ships go sailing on Friday`

One creative watergoer could become $1,000 richer Friday at the 19th annual Small Ships Revue, also known as a "build your own boat/anything that floats regatta."

Among the estimated $5,000 worth of prizes for the event will be the $1,000 grand prize, free T-shirts will also be given to the first 250 Small Ships crew members.

The schedule of events for the 19th annual Small Ships Revue:

3 p.m., prerevue, registration and a party at Quaker Steak and Lube on Connelly Boulevard.
5 p.m., prelaunch parade forms at the Buhl Club.
6 p.m., parade through downtown Sharon. Ships will make their way to the Shenango River with launch time set for 7 p.m.
8:30 p.m., the Hern Brothers Band will play classic rock from the '70s and '80s, as well as some originals, in the parking lot at the Lube.
10 p.m., fireworks over the Three by the River restaurant complex.
The event, sponsored by Pepsi and presented by radio station WYFM and Quaker Steak and Lube, is free.
