The service can only be reached through a participating newspaper's Web site, and The Herald is the only site in northwestern Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio to offer it.
The Wire offers the latest versions of the news and information that already is a staple of The Herald's print edition, as well as multimedia extras such as sound and video clips. A news ticker can display live news, business and sports headlines in the corner of your computer's screen.
Content includes expanded coverage of special interest areas, such as thousands of mutual fund and stock prices on the AP MoneyWire.
A free, searchable database holds more than 10,000 top news stories from the past two weeks. For items up to two years old, AP's archives can be searched for free and stories retrieved for a small fee.
Banner advertising within the pages of The Wire and throughout The Herald's local Web pages is available. For details, call The Herald's creative-services director, Tammy Marshall, at 981-6100 Ext. 266 or tmarshall@sharon-herald.com
